Tips for a Successful Thanksgiving in 2020

November 23, 2020

Have you noticed people preparing for the holidays a lot earlier this year? Well in short, the year 2020 plays a large role in that. With what this year has brought, can you really blame us?! We're needing the extra holiday cheer and Thanksgiving is right around the corner! For some, they're close to their family and friends and are able to celebrate the holiday together while others are celebrating their first Thanksgiving in their new home. Whatever your plans may be; we've got you covered on how to have an amazing day this Thursday!

Plan ahead

Don't be that person who forgets to thaw the turkey, let alone buy one from the store the day of. There are plenty of recipes you can search on Pinterest to help prepare for all the groceries you'll need to get. Whether you're with friends, family, significant others or roommates, you can each plan on preparing a dish or two to help lighten the load (and create a little less stress for everyone.) Last but not least don't forget the most important dish; pumpkin pie!!

Spending time with family and friends

For those traveling or interacting with family and friends from different places, be sure to use caution due to COVID-19. With each state implementing different variations of guidelines, be sure to do your research beforehand! Use your best judgment and if you or a loved one is feeling under the weather, it may be best to sit this Thanksgiving out. Remember Christmas and New Years are just around the corner, it'd be a shame to have to miss out on the remaining holidays this year!

Black Friday shopping deals

If you're not in a food coma or taking a nap after eating that wonderful feast, check out Black Friday shopping deals. A lot of businesses are posting about their deals on their social media and some are even starting their deals early! Thanks to technology, you don't even have to leave your couch to shop. You can choose convenience and shop off stores such as Amazon or shop locally and support smaller businesses. If the deals are insane you can get all your holiday shopping out of the way (and even get your roommate that new PS5 they've been wanting!)

Take time to reflect on what you're thankful for

No matter how difficult this year may have been, there's always something to be thankful for. Whether it be a new job offer, your parents helping you out with rent, a new romantic partner or your roommate you were fortunate enough to find through the Chillow app, spend some time to reflect on what you've been fortunate enough to be given or experience in 2020! What are you thankful for this year? This year the Chillow team is thankful for all your love and support! We hope you all have a safe and happy Thanksgiving, cheers!
